Thanks for the complete guide! A few points:

- point 3 the last archive to extract should be essential-20071007.tar?
- the options are denoted by double-dash?
- I get the error:

Unknown parameter: –with-extraincdir=//faac/include://x264/include

I checked it looks like this is a bug of the snapshot source?
